What do I carry when I can not carry a gun?

Everthing else that I normally carry.

My Canadian canes (the ones with that clip onto my forearms). Gives me lots of reach, allows me to use my hands without loosing the canes. A Sikes/Fairborn folder. In my vehicle a 5 pound ABC Dry Chemical fire extinguisher.

Usually nothing special. But I do have a cane I made that has a 1" hickory shaft and a heavy brass head. I don't need a cane (yet, I'm 74) but at my age it would look appropriate. It could smash skulls or break bones. Also have a stout 'persuader' in the truck with a large knife and CS spray. Also sometimes carry a quick open Boker Matic knife on occasion. Mainly try to be alert to situational awareness.

my witts a good one hand open knife & a karambit, i have a few
, for quick effective cuts, nothing beats it. The ring on the end is JUST as effective as a brass knuckle hit. I have a smaller neck knife version, all are very solid one piece designs.Very strong.

Whenever that happens, though rare, I still have my assisted-opening NRA knife on me, along with a wad of keys that will tear up any face, guaranteed. I've been malevolently approached only a scant few times in my life though, as I'm larger than most.

I am the weapon; my gun is a tool. It's regrettable that with some people those descriptors are reversed.

You probably won't have a knife on an airliner.

What do you carry when you can't carry a gun?

You can have a small pocket knife on an airplane starting in April. Too little, too late if you ask me.

A folding or fixed Kbar. But other than a court house or fed building .. I thought those little red circles with the line through a pistol were more of a suggestion ? Kind of like the speed limit. I could be wrong though.

An iphone. No seriously. What else is there but a knife, and the willingness to use it.

This sounds right...

Well, I don't have as much martial arts experience. (three and counting though)

Having the right mentality with and without a gun is more important.

Flashlight, multi tool, box cutter and folder if I didn't have a ccw. Just the flashlight for flights or court.

Cup-hilted cutlasses, Arkansas toothpicks,
loaded bandanas and hardwood kalí sticks,
t-ball bats studded with galvanized bling:
these are a few of my favorite things.

Tomahawks, assegais, bolos, and sabres
may make a mess, but they won't wake the neighbors.
Wolf heads and eagles on big pewter rings:
these are a few of my favorite things.

Cleavers right out of an Icelandic saga,
maybe a dose of
latigo y daga,
big nails on both ends of old guitar strings:
these are a few of my favorite things.

Squirt guns loaded with ammonia,
sjambok up the sleeve ...
Or maybe there's something like Queensbury rules
for the terminally naïve.

Oh; seriously? I almost always have some sort of knife on my person, but I've also usually got a stout hickory cane, courtesy of a genuine but infuriatingly unpredictable bum ankle. That cane has a lot more reach than any knife, and very few people seriously want to take a solid thwack from it. I also have some basic training in its use and a bit of kalí that translates reasonably well.

If I'm really concerned about the area, I talk to myself just loudly enough that anyone who actually listens can tell I'm muttering complete gibberish.
