what type of finish do rugers carry ?

ok i have tackled the job of refinishing the barrle on my ruger security six . a have noticed that most rugers always look a bit different . i just finished a spanish 32-20 revolver but i stripped and reblued the whole gun with the birchwood casey kit, it looks decent but i tried to spot the ruger barrel and boy it looks like hell . would i be better off sending it out and would it be cost effective to do so on a 400.00 gun ? it has major pitting but i have wet sanded 99% of it out . im no pro but i know enough to properly f somthing up !

My own general rule is, if you can't or wont find the info direct from the factory, then send it in.
Since you can't or won't look rugers website, I recommend sending it in. http://www.ruger.com/service/serviceFees.html
Quote:
SHOTGUNS, RIFLES AND REVOLVERS
POLISH AND REBLUE Labor charge per firearm (does not include parts and shipping)
Shotguns $130.00
Revolvers and most rifles $130.00
77/22s and 10/22s
(includes refinishing of all metal components) $100.00 (not necessary for re-barreling)
No matter what "blue in a bottle" claims to be, it will never be a factory blue...........

It's some kind of paint-like finish on my GP-100. Not normal bluing. Thick and black.
Used a vinegar based home made leather dye on a holster. Didn't wait long enough for it to dry. The finish was eaten right to bare metal. Cold bluing covered it, but it's not the same.
