Vicker's Tactical Glock Slide Stop

Traditionally, I have always replaced the factory slide stop on all of my Glocks with the OEM exteded one from the G34. Prior to the Gen4 design, I also replaced the magazine release with the G34 extended version as well.

When I was browsing around I saw that the Vicker's Tactical slide stop made by Tango Down was the same price as the Glock OEM one, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Now that I've given it some use, I really do like it - perhaps even more than the Glock one, for a few reasons:

- It maintains the same profile as the factory stop, versus elongating the button. Not a big deal, but it just seems to match better, aesthetically.
- It actually seems slightly easier to actuate than the OEM extended one due to it's enhanced serrations.
- The shape is almost exactly the same as the M&P release, with tighter serrations that grip the finger better. I also shoot M&P a lot, so the similar feel is nice.

I'm not sure if the pictures really capture it, but here you go. Overall, I'm very pleased with it. While I probably won't replace the OEM extended stops on my other Glocks, I think future ones will indeed get the Vicker's model instead. Give it a try and see what you think.

Looks like a nice addition. How do you like the Gen 4. I've found the Gen 4 triggers to be a little heavier but I like everything else about the guns.

I really like the Gen4, actually. I know there has been some contention on that issue, but I have had nothing but positive experiences. The Gen4 trigger is SLIGHTLY heavier, but it;s also more crisp. This is because the angle of the trigger connector is slightly more acute on the Gen4 trigger housing than on the Gen3.

I really like the grip texture and the magazine release on the Gen4. I don't much care one way or the other about the new recoil design, but I haven't had any of the issues that were reported, and I've owned 6 Gen4 guns thus far.

I have the Vicker's slide stop & mag release on my G19 and love it, will not go back to the stock units after trying these. Theres just a small change in size on both that makes a big difference IMO.

I find it interesting that there are all these slide stop accessories when the majority of schools these days teach folks to not use the slide stop as a slide release.

Old habits and whatnot, I suppose. It works for me across all of my pistols.

I tried the Vickers and every so often my thumb would ride up and lock back the slide. Took me 3 range sessions to figure it out. It happened when my wife shot the G21 as well so we thought it was an internal issue. Talked it through and when I put the factory stop back in I had ZERO problems. I guess I could have changed my grip a bit, but in a stress situation i don't need any problems.

Bye Bye Vickers slide stop.

Makes sense. I used to shoot with the layered thumbs method like that. Turned out to cause problems on about half of my guns, including my Sigs. Now use the standard thumb placement - i.e. - where the indent is on the glock frame, with my support hand wrapping around it. That method removed my tendency to shoot a little to the left as well.

All gotta do what works best for us. The more I get used to this Vicker's one, the more I like it. Really, I like how much it feels like the M&P.

I'm confused, do you have a picture of this? I'm used to thumbs forward.

Looks like it was copied from the SW M&P

Basically like the thumbs forward, only the thumb on the right hand is lower instead of being up on top of the slide lock, it's tucked down under the thumb pad of the support hand.

Looks like the pics in this artice pretty much. http://www.officer.com/article/10249...-a-combat-grip
