Lab,
Tagged Out! Drew a limited antlerless elk tag (second choice) for unit 79 in the fourth season. Took advantage of the new rule that if that unit doesn't have fourth season deer season then you can hunt deer in another rifle season. Drew a second choice rifle buck deer, for units 11, 22 and 211. And since I have a limited antlerless elk tag, I can buy another over the counter elk tag - for the archery season. AHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! Hunting Overload!!! I may quit my job!!! So I won't be in line at the DOW office - will vote though! JohnDog |

Do you guys know if the excess tags will get snapped up or if they wind up going out over the counter at the license outlets later on???

Check the website link.
Some cities' DOW offices will be "tagging" applicants for a place in line - won't be first come, first served. We had one of those at the Denver office a few years back. I got there at 4AM & the line was way down the block over 1K folks. Essentially what they do is everybody grabs a number outa the hat & that's your place in line, BUT, that last go 'round, the DOW figured there'd only be so many extra tags available & they cut off the # drawing at about 250 or so ... still paid to be early & up front. Too, only so many licenses & every DOW office is part of the process - sorta like Tick-A-Tron for concert tickets. Tied into a computer & has no bearing on where you go except that an office at a smaller town might give you an advantage - not such the press of people. Some of the applicants are through the mail & I don't know how the mix will be hashed out, or if anything'll be left over. Doubtful that many tags will last through noon. BTW, you don't have to hunt the same season as your other tags. Check the site, download a species brochure & git on down ... |
