It is a bonded bullet...i thing because of the mass retension, and high velocity at mid range is what caused the major damage

That would have been my guess--interesting your experienced confirmed that. That's why I think some hunters like matchkings. I do have some 5.56 loads intended for medium game hunting--but they are monolithic Barnes TTSX's in the 69+ gr range. I'm still not confident enough with the round--especially in thick woods--to make the right shot.

1. What company? Bushmaster upper, Anderson lower
2. Barrel Length? 16"
3. Caliber? .450 Bushmaster
4. What do you hunt? Deer, possibility of bear and if I'm really lucky elk
5. Optics? Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40
6. Primary shot distances? 25-250 yards
7. Any other things... It's a home built so I put my favorite magpul fixed rifle stock on it and a RRA 2 stage trigger. 1MOA accurate at 100 yards
