New to me Remington Model Seven
Bought me a Remington Model 7 from a buddy shot very very little. 308 blued barrel, wood stock, topped with a 3x9 Redfield. Very nice gun. He gave me a box of HSM 165 grain Barnes TSX. Last range trip I shot 2 groups of 3 shots at 100 yards that shot under an inch. Only problem is I'm have a hard time finding anyone that has them in stock. I put in an order with HSM but they said they are waiting for bullets to start loading so who knows how long I will get them. Anyone know of a place of website that sells HSM .308 165 grain Barnes TSX?

list
A short barreled Model 7 in .308 has been on my wish list for a long time, like since the original, stubby barreled schnabel forearm rifles hit the market 30 yrs ago!
Congrats to you. |

Bamaranger, did you know Remington is bringing back the short barreled version this year?
The 2015 catalog calls it the Model 7 Laminate. It has one of those butt-ugly laminated stocks but the barrel is short and has iron sights like the original model 7. |

Model 7
Great rifle and cartridge congrats. I have 2 in .260 remington one like yours and 1 SS 20 inch barrel, I don't think I have a friend I'd sell either on too! Have 4 grandsons who can fight over them.

Mdl. 7
The 165 gr. bullets are good. If you are not hunting anything bigger than deer I would suggest looking at the Sierra 125 gr. Pro Hunter. I have gotten great accuracy in my 20" barrel .308 and found that particular cup & core bullet to be way tougher than you would think. An honest high 2900+fps is attainable in a 20" barrel. The recoil level in the lighter rifle is much more fun with this bullet.
I have found that there is no greater degree of dead. This bullet has held together thru both front shoulders of a mule deer doe at 75 yds. and broke the off side leg on the way out. |

I needed a spare smaller caliber deer rifle for my GF to use and bought a SS model in 7mm~08.
Its become my most carried deer rifle. I recently bought another SS in 308 to go with it |
