Cap Size

Is the CCI #10 and the Remington #10 cap the same size? I like the way the CCI #10 fits my Pietta 1858 nipples but can only buy Remingtons locally. Thanks for your help

My experience suggests that they are the same size. I have used both on my Traditions 1851 and can't tell any difference.

I hate to say it but the only good way to really tell is to try it on your gun.

The size is pretty close, but I've had guns that worked fine with Remington in one size and didn't go well with CCI's.

My guess is that it will work fine, my own experience is that the Remingtons have more "give" in sizing than the CCI allowing them to either stretch or be squished on a bit better.

The only caps I've used is cci #10 and my remmy fired every single time. I'm still planning on getting some of the remington caps and give them a try. Until now the cci #10 has worked like a dream.

Remingtons fit mine ok but I get more misfires from missing priming compound.

I have the opposite problem LOL. When I find #10s, they always seem to be CCI, and I can't get them to seat on my Pietta '58 Remmy - but the Remington #10s fit perfectly. Seems I really have to look around to find them.

I had the same problem, but with a Uberti. Replacement nipples solved the problem so now I keep the old (factory) ones in case I ever get stuck with #10's, but use the replacements with the more commonly available #11's.
