Help, hairy terrorist assault
I have a hairy four legged terrorist who assaults my trash can. I need a subsonic load for my 357 so that I can settle this problem with him. He always comes late at night and I do not want to scare my neighbors. I have tried a BB gun and it does not keep him from coming back. Thanks

Unless supressed, you'll not gain anything anyway - still gonna make a noise.
Do a HBWC, .38 special, 3.7 grains Bullseye headshot. ('course, any headshot, & it will all make a noise, will do the trick .... ) Got a .22LR handy? |

If you're going to have a potato with hairy four-legged critter,
you must also have butter and sour cream! MMMMM GOOD!

Actually, I tried to silence a 22LR with a potato once...
But it kept falling out of my ear! O.K. I'll stop now.

Don't you have to twist the potatoes first to get them in your ear.... I allways ended up with just mashed, so I use carrots or green beans instead......

O.K. I'll be serious this time.
How about spraying the top of the contents of your trash can with a generous amount of pepper spray? I haven't tried this but it seems like it might be an effective deterrent that the critter would remember next time wants a midnight snack.

They should call this the funning line.
I don't want to deter him anymore I want a piece of the little monster. I read some articles on sub sonics by Paco I need to go to Sixgunner and dig them up. He claims his loads are nearly silent. |

JMHO but the critter could just be a victim of irresponsible pet ownership. Is there a way to contact them. If it's a stray and just trying to survive then that's a diferent story and you'd probably be doing him a favor. A quick blast with the 12 gauge and act like nothing happened. I put a bungee over my cans.

Yes get some subsonics and try and use a 24" barrel or longer in .22LR.
I've also heard that taping a 1-2 liter "pop" bottle on the end might help also.

Try a bolt action or lever 22 with 22 shorts. My 9422 is virtually silent with this and it easily will drop a skunk at 10 paces (as closes as I would go!).
Also Agulia (spelling???) makes a very nice subsonic 22, but it is pretty loud. Finally, prestone is exceptionally effective!

Aguila Has a .22 Colobri round that has a 20gr bullet and NO POWDER primer only that is effective to about 15-25 feet on small critters. It will not cycle any actions but when fired from a .22 rifle a cap gun is louder! I have shot several rounds in my back yard at squirrells with out any neighbors knowing, When I shoot my .44 with rubber bullets and primers only somebody always seems to look over the fence These work for me

how about a paint ball gun? maybe with a frozen ball for a bit more "incentive"....
most place frown on you shooting in city limits.. you got a more relaxed attaude with paint balls.

Someone once told me about taping a plastic pop (soda) bottle with the bottom cut out on the barrel of a 22L. Said it directs the noise. So if the bullet doesn't get'em, the muzzle blast will.
Back to the potato thing, if you use the curley fries and corkscrew them in your ears, they wont fall out. |
