Marlin Golden 39-A manufacture date

I have a Golden 39-A that my father bought I believe in the late 50's. The serial number is R 6002. Thats it. Nothing else. Just says R 6002. Any idea when this gun was built and / or the possible value in VG to excellent condition?

Thanks

The "R" prefix indicates 1957-58 manfacture.

Blue Book of Gun Values, 29th ed. puts value of a 98% Marlin Golden Model 39A at $350. Hope that helps........Al
