I've got a Stevens/Springfield 83. This is a single-shot 22lr. rifle. I need the complete bolt for it. Few people have ever heard of it much less have parts. Any ideas?

Mr. Nolden-I have already tried them to no avail. Also tried the other major parts guys. Do I have the only one in existence?

I have one! It was my Great Grandmother's Given to my Grandfather and given to me as my first rifle!.... The bolt, and springs are a bit sloppy in the reload, but that rifle is probably the most accurtate rifle I own!

I too would love to find parts and restore it, but I just can't seem to find them!

I have a spare Mod 83, bolt and all. Not that anyone would pay the value of a working old rifle for just the bolt. I'm keeping the one I grew up with. Found the 'spare' through very patient regular searches of certain websites.
If it helps, the Ranger 101.8 is supposed to be the same rifle. Very fond of my old rifle. Nothing it wouldn't do for me in accuracy and reliability.

Springfield model 83 bolt

If still interested in a bolt for your Model 83 Springfield let me know, I have one available. I have a complete barreled action and have been looking for a stock assembly with no success.

The Stevens 83 is the same as the Wards Western Field model 62. Try Numrich Gun Parts, or so I'm told. I just acquired one, good shape for something made in the mid 30's. Can't wait to shoot it.

Springfield model 83

Today is January 6th 2012 and there is a complete usable stock for a model 83 at Gunbroker.com. I have a very nice example, but this is not a single shot. There is supposed to be a clip that holds 4 rounds or so. Don't know for sure, I have never saw anything but a picture. Mine did not have one when I got it from my Grandfather after he passed. I understand that Sears sold one just like this as well under the J Higgins name. Anybody got an extra clip? I accept Emails from this website.

I was just looking around for a date on mine. It is a model 83 without the clip option. Hope someone comes up with something, although it's been quite a while since the last post. John

I had one and traded it off with some other stuff. Guess what? It had no bolt! I am starting to wonder if they even came with a bolt.

According to one of Numrich's older catalogs, it's also a Sears 231.
