CZ 527 scope mounting

Hello, I'm new to the forum, but not new to shooting or reloading.

I've been looking at getting a CZ 527 in .22 Hornet for a walk-around varmint rifle, and I'd like to mount a compact scope on it. I prefer a lower scope, and the rings that come with the CZ are pretty high for my liking. I've read that they are so high because the bolt handle design interferes with the eye piece with lower rings.

Has anyone out there found success with the medium-height Warne rings and a compact scope? I ran a search but couldn't find anything. I was looking at the Leupold VX-II 3-9x33 EFR which has a eyepiece diameter of 1.35" compared to about 1.6" for most scopes in the 3-9x40 area.

Thanks,
Cory
