I have a Remingtion model 870 express 12 gauge. What is the finish called on it. Is it matte, parkerized ....???? I know it is not blued (sp)??? I was going to order a Mossberg barrel for it, but if I cannot get an exact finish match, I will buy a Home Defense instead of a new 18.5 " barrel.

I believe it's a low lustre matte finish, definately not blue like the regular 870 Wingmasters. Guys...am I right?

I belive the finsh on the 870 express is nothing more than a matte blue. The guns are blasted, and then they are hot blued. This saves Remington time and money because the parts are not polished like its Wingmaster brother.Throw on a cheaper stock, and there you have it,the 870 EXPRESS. I hope this answers your question.
