S&W 1066 Safety/Decocker

Can anybody help? The Safety/Decocker does not decock the gun when put on safe. The safety works. The only way to decock is to put in an empty magazine and pull the trigger. S&W 1066

I thought the 1066 just had a firing pin block, not a decocker.

Hatch: One thing you might check is the grip panel binding the decock lever (side plate assembly), or the lever itself (bent or broken).

FWIW, the 1066 is not the DAO nor is it the frame-mounted decock model (which would need grip clearance for proper operation of the decock-specific lever) The 1066 is the shorter barreled version of the basic 1006 with the slide mounted safety/decocker.

If the safety is rotated DOWN and the slide is locked open and you let it fly to chamber a round, the safety should automatically decock this pistol upon chambering that round.

Hatchman, you likely already knew that, I posted it for others who might read and be a bit confused on the operation of this pistol.
