Did S.W.A.T magazine ever run an article
by Stanley C. Christ, called M14K "A Better Idea" ???

Yes. The article was the cover story for the April, 1990 issue. It was about a company called La France Specialties who cut a full-auto M14 down to the length of an M1 Carbine, thus the "K" (kurz) designation. La France Specialties was located in San Diego. Was this the outfit that modified the M14 with an M60 gas system to reduce recoil?

One and the same. I never fired it personally but the author said it was pretty sweet.

Found LaFrance on the net. Looks like they might be exclusively Law Enforcement sales only though... bummer. Kind of wanted an M1A-K heh.heh.
