Whats on your AR?
Im curious on the various set ups you have chosen for your AR platform.
On my 16 inch, Ive kept it very streamline, from a Triji 4x32 HorseShoe ontop and a pair of Dueck Defense QTS. Other than that, its for a MI Midlength Handguard, Magpul Grip and A2 Buttstock. On my 10.5 SBR, I have your basic quadrail, flashlight, Eotech 512, and a El-Cheapo low profile laser, and MagPul furniture. My coyote 20 inch is set up with a standard 20 in HB and a Nikon M223 along with a bipod. What do you have on yours, and what are your primary uses? Why did you choose what you did... Pictures welcome. Dave

I have an EOTECH sight. Nothing else.
Too much stuff makes it weigh more and winds up stuck on things. |

My Noveske wears a Troy quad rail and front grip. Also a EO Tech on a RRA dominator II mount. A blue force sling wraps it up.
My RRA has a night vision scope and a Vortex flash hider. My Colt now has a FN 20 inch upper. No extras.

Colt 6920 with a DD Omega rail. (Lighter than the standard handguards and let me add or remove light without changing POI)
Surefire X300 mounted on the left side. BFG Victory Sling Aimpoint M4s in Larue Mount. Larue BUIS with same plane rear aperture. (For the more open small aperture, I never use the large)

I have a Bushmaster XM15e2s (20" standard model A3 Flattop). I bought a Burris Fullfield II for it, but only use it for testing ammo. Then I put the handle back on and use the iron sights. I put a RRA Two-stage match trigger in it. That's it. A pile of Mags.
No Aimpoint, Eotech, Laser, Flashlight, Bipod, Rails, Satellite Receiver, or Television. I admit to eyeing it with the idea of perhaps installing a Percolator before but didn't go through with it. The RRA 2-Stage trigger is the cat' meow and I'm willing to recommend it. It has the slightest bit of creep in it and is a full 4.5 LBs, but breaks like a glass rod. I like it. |

Had my AR for a year, just has the Millett dot I bought a few years ago.
Seriously though, I just don't see a real purpose for this rifle. It's a fun range toy, that's about it. I don't hunt, need pest control or use it for HD. I fail to understand why people buy these things then hang another $800 worth of gadgets off it. Nice to have one 'just because' but all this conspiracy talk of the UN "takin our guuuuuuns" gives me a headache. I'd actually much rather have one of those traditional looking AR's with the 20" barrel and fixed buttstock. Somewhat of a history buff so it would compliment my Garand. |

My lightweight AR has a 14.5 barrel w/pinned Phantom FH, Magpul MBUS sights, Troy TRX battlerail, Ergo grip. and Bushnell TRS-25 on a QD three slot 3/4" riser. I added a vert grip I had lying around. My "varmint" AR is a midweight 20" with free float tube w/ Caldwell bipod mounted on sling stud. YHM front flip up front sight/ gas block, BWA X- COMP, RR Match trigger, Bushnell Elite SF 3x9x40 scope in high rings.

Colt Match Target - a hooded NM rear sight. Standard front sight. That is all.

I have several. They only have Aimpoints and Eotechs on them. No other "stuff" is necessary. At least for me.

My current setup is a 5.56 Daniel Defense with a 16" lightweight barrel and a modular float rail system, a Fenix flashlight mounted at 2 o'clock near the gas block (I'm right-handed and I like my light to be on the right side), an EOTech as primary and Magpul flip-up sights for backup. And a V-Tac sling and Lancer mags round out the package. Throw in some V-Max or TAP rounds and you have a far better home defense weapon for most situations than a handgun or shotgun.
