Springfield Model 15 takedown screw
I was taking my Springfield Model 15 22 apart to clean it up and when I unscrewed the takedown screw the barrel and the sear came off like it should but the actual screw from the inside of the stock has some type of a metal spacer or bushing of some type that is not easily held on to by any tool. I have been working at it for a while and still cannot figure out why the screw will not come out of there. Is there a trick to removing the screw from that spacer and from the stock.
What is that part in the stock called ? Is there a trick in taking it apart ? I have a picture of it from the inside of the stock. I am tearing up the takedown screw head trying to un screw it. I would just cut it off and replace it but replacement parts for this model do not even mention a spacer inside the stock that the screw goes into. Thanks, Phil Last edited by Parmour; April 26, 2013 at 10:49 AM. |

IIRC, it is not supposed to come out. The factory made it that way to prevent loss of the screw. You can clean around the screw without removing it.
