That's happened only one time with my G27 when it had a G22 mag.

I have four G17 magazines and a 33 round magazine and have never experienced any issues. I do have a spacer on one magazine, but not the others.

I noticed he was really “slamming” the magazines in and they even discussed it so maybe that was an issue. I seat magazines firmly, but see no reason to slam them in. Also, I wonder if his gloves contributed to the problem by releasing the slide prematurely.

I've not had that happen with my G26 with any size mag...I have had it happen with my previously owned G27 (why I got rid of it).

Yes indeed

I've tried to advise forum readers at Glocktalk that longer magazines in the G26 have front to back motion, changing the feed angle and sometimes causing a stoppage. I owned a G26 for about 12 years that was 100% reliable with stock magazines but I could easily induce a stoppage by holding a longer magazine to the rear of its travel, thus causing the round to hang up on the feed ramp.

My feeling is that if you must have an endless supply of ammo, go with a larger frame such as the G19. Guns to be used in self defense must, above all else, be 100% reliable. The G26 with G17, 19 or 34 magazines is not 100% reliable. Besides, you can put the grip extender on the G26 giving you 12 rounds. That should be more than enough for personal defense.

To think that for most of my law enforcement career, I carried a six shot wheel gun and one speed loader (two or three speed loaders when going on raids) yet I felt comfortable carrying 12 rounds.

Thanks for sharing that. Just last weekend I picked up 2, 17 mags and the spacers. I haven’t tried them yet but the next time I get the loading bench up and working I’ll make myself half dozen rounds without powder or primers and see if I can reproduce that failure.
I have put thousands of rounds through my 26 with a lot of multiple rapid rounds fired with the 10 Glock mags I own and have never had a failure. But I’ve never tried a 17 or 19 in this gun. The attached photo shows the 17 mag and extension, the fit from the photo looks poor but in the hand it feels tight with no movement of the mag to the grip frame.
You can bet that mine will see numerous boxes of rounds before I trust the gun with them.
