Para P-12 Questions

Hi guys,

Just picked one up for my CC use. I have a few questions about this pistol.

1) There isn't a hex screw on the recoil guide to allow it to be removed per the manual (and the other officer models I've seen) - is this a bad part or am I missing something? The new P-12 breaks down like the C645

2) The breech end of the barrel has a slit in it just behind the Para logo, about 1/8 inch long running from the top edge towards the muzzle. Any idea what this is for?
