New place to shoot

Some of you may be aware that I have been having the devil of a time trying to find a place to shoot. I have been through three different spots, all of which are about an hour away.

I don't shoot the ranges for various reasons and even the clubs don't have a range that is close. The gun shops down town do not let one shoot black powder.

I finally came up with a place that is about 25 minutes from home. I went there last week.....See the post about the fools.

I can get the truck right up next to the place where I put the bench.

I take my own bench even though there is a bench available.

I thought you had a new place that backed up to the Great Dismal Swamp earlier this year? What was wrong with that place? Or am I confusing you with someone else?

I think Doc mentioned that this new place is closer to home for him.

You are correct.

This has been a long hard slog.

I had an agreement with a family very close to the Great Dismal Swamp

But that family has declined to have folks shooting on their property any longer.

Not certain why.

It was a forty to forty five minute drive which is acceptable but not great. It was a very nice place to shoot. But if the owner changes the rules.....well he gets to change the rules.

This most recent place is the fifth place I have found in four years. It is the closest and closely matches what I need.

Only one problem..... The barn in the photo is where the hunters go to dress out their deer. AND IT STINKS. Thanksfully I only have to drive past it and not shoot near it. I paid this guy for a year and he has been doing this for a long time so I think it may actually work out for the long term.
