I've been considering a new Ruger Blackhawk in the .45/.45 convertible. Modern .45 acp revolvers use a moon or half moon clip to contain the cases in the cylinder. How would a single action load? Would they require the removal of the cylinder to use the moon clips, or do they have a special cylinder to eliminate the clips and load in the normal saa fashion?

Get the Ruger convertable - you wouln't regret it.

No you don't use "moon" clips, moon clips are bad - they only work after dark.

The convertable part is 2 cylinders for the gun, one chambered for 45 acp, the other cylinger chambered for 45 colt.
The acp cylinder headspaces the cartridges on the case mouth. Both cartridges load and eject the same way - normal SAA

1 gun - 2 types of ammo, great idea.

Also the Blackhawk has adjustable sights, which may be important if the two cartridges shoot to different points of impact. It is handy to be able to shoot the usually less expensive ACP cartridge, and in time the extra cylinder will pay for itself.
