Saiga 12... Whats going on with ATF?
So I heard they are banning the imports of Saiga 12's gun stores are telling people to buy them before they go up like dragonov's and be worth 1,000's..
Whats going on? will they start making them in the country like 92fs and no importors ones? I am confused. I really thought about buying one, a few gun shops have a few left and time is short. |

The ATF is undergoing a self study regarding the importability of certain shotguns.
Their publication regarding it can be found here. Please note, despite what the alarmist emails and the gun shop scuttlebutt says, it will NOT affect the Saiga 12, as imported (it is considered sporting in stock form, and NO, the detachable magazine is NOT what will condemn a gun). Guns like the Chinese reproduction of the 1897 "Trench Gun" may run afoul of it courtesy of such features as the bayonet mount. There's no shortage of threads on here about it, and a search should turn them up. |

If you have the wherewithal, then just buy one and stop the worrying. You will not regret it in any event. I haven't. They are a blast (pun may be intended) to own and shoot. Nevermind the Barbie-for-men aspect of it all.
Rottieman, I like your style! Who's barrel shroud is that? |

Our distributor has them in stock for $599-$629. Lew Horton has also had them in the past couple months at this price range.

The Saiga is not banned. It's just very hard to get right now, and prices at the wholesale level have jumped about 25% since last year. Combine those factors, and you've got a recipe for GunBroker gouging.

I feel as if fast and furious has overshadowed the whole sporting shotgun thing.
