257 Roberts

Anyone have a good source for 257 Roberts brass?

I've always got it at my local gun store before, but he no longer had any. I also couldn't find any factory ammo in the store. Midway has the brass on back order.
Thanks

Go online and hit the usual suppliers and look for loaded 257 Bob ammunition.
i recently acquired a custom 257 through a group that benefits children of Marines KIA in an auction. Brass was unobtainum for the past year so I just went ahead and bought 3 boxes of loaded ammunition and will reload the spent brass as I use it up.

Good luck and if you find a source please post it on the site.

What is involved in modifying the 7x57 brass?

I have read that you can fire from the 6mm in the 257 Roberts. Do you just reload the 6mm case normally after that or is there more involved.

Nosler for 75 cents
http://www.midwayusa.com/find?dimensionids=20321

With Rem or Win 8x57 brass, I could size down to 7x57 and then down to 257 Roberts and it fit is a standard chamber.

But with Lapua, i had to turn necks when just sizing down from 7x57Rim to 257R.

The nozlers are a +p case. I have no experience loading those. Nor am I willing to pay that much. Lol

I have 50 or so rounds of brass that I've reloaded a few times. Just never expected to not being able to aquire them. A lots changed in the last 8 years.

Lube the 7x57case and run it into a .257 Full Length sizing die (I do mine once and then give it a quarter turn and run it in again....). The change is so small that you should only have to trim it for length ..... turning or reaming the neck probably won't be necessary ..... I know I don't have to do antyting special when making 8x57 into 7x57 or vice versa ..... though both of my -x57 guns are milsurps with ....shall we say "generous" chambers ..... YMMV ...... so make a dummy round and see if it chambers freely.
