Does Anyone Make A #11 Conversion?
I have an older model Cabelas 54. Cal Hawken, and was wondering if there is any way to convert it from #11 Percussion caps to Musket Caps.
I have the hardest time in messing with the #11 caps, and the Musket caps fit me much better.

Determine the thread size (local hardware store screw thread measurer) and buy a musket cap nipple with the same thread. I did it and it works fine.

Good evening riverwalker76. Easy thing to do on those large bore side hammer rifles. Good idea on your part Sir. Doing the same on my 54 has made capping-up a whole lot easier for me.

CVAs use a metric threaded nipple, M6x1.0, TotW catalog number CVA-A for the Ampco or Treso version; the stainless steel version is CVA-S.
The TotW musket nipple with the same thread is catalog number CVA-MS. |

The Cabela's Hawken is made by Investarms, not CVA
The Cabela's Hawken is made by Investarms, which is same the manufacturer as the Lyman traditional muzzle loaders.
They take a 6 X .75 nipple. Cabela's sells a musket nipple in that size for $11.99: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Repla...3D9&Ntt=nipple |

Oops. I read Cabela's as CVA. My bad.
Yes, M6x.75 threads. TotW catalog number RLP-MS, $3.99 plus shipping. |
