Gssf

Anyone have any experience with GSSF, IDPA and IPSC? I have never shot competitively before and am considering starting with an upcoming GSSF match. How does it compare to the others?

I have shot three indoor and one outdoor GSSF match. It is suitable for all ages and skill levels as long as you follow the rules and practice safe gun handling. Go to the GSSF website and you can find out everything about it.

The basics are you use mostly standard glocks and start with the gun facing down range and then engage a series of cardboard or steel targets at known distances. Time and accuracy count.

I have been shooting IDPA for about six months it is tailored towards CCw in regards to firearms and scenarios. It involves a good bit of gun handling and reloading and moving and shooting. The IDPA website will give you a lot of information. There are a lot of clubs and ranges having IDPA (and IPSC) matches, you may have one close to you.

I have never shot IPSC or similar and do not know any details but I am sure they also will have an informative website.

I shoot IDPA and I've shot USPSA (IPSC in the USA). I much prefer IDPA and would reccoment it highly to a beginner in action shooting. It is slower then USPAS (but by no means is it a slow sport) and leans more to "real life" situations. The key word is LEANS. IDPA is still a game and is to be shot like one.

Try this web site for info on both: http://www.craigcentral.com/idpaipsc.asp

It's a great web site to give you a basis of comparison.

I'm goin' shootin'!

GSSF (did I mention I won a Glock?) is perfect for any skill level; USPSA is awesome; IDPA is whatever it is (at the moment).

Go, watch, ask, learn, join, compete, have fun!

Start now; the most common regret is that we don't start sooner.........
