Search error
While doing searches, I'm intermittently getting this error :
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/tfl/htdocs/forums/search.php on line 428 Note that the line number varies on each error. Thought you'd be interested.

What kind of search terms are you using?
Sounds like a typical server timeout on TFL's end, but I've never run across one here.

Interesting... I can reproduce it.
The original search was on "gun safe" it went out and sat for a bit, then returned the error on excessive execution time. If I search on "gun" it comes up with the TFL error page saying it's dispatching an email to the staff. I'm assuming this is due to the obscene number of threads containing this term. However, doing a search on "gun ammo" works just fine. Edit - "gun magazine" and "gun sight" also produce the error. using boolean AND has same effect. hmmm

Fixed now, BUT
Be careful what you ask for!
YT was right. It was simply tripping on a 30 second limit in the PHP module. I increased this to 60 seconds in the middle of the night. It wouldn't take, even after a restart of the database. Next step: Server Reboot. Result: Server down for 18 hours! Now we know: It was all Borf's fault! Rich

Thanks for the detailed response. It will be very helpful in trying to determine the cause of the error.
Thanks also for your continued patience while we readjust to our surroundings. |

I'll be careful wishing in the future
Did you try restarting apache? If PHP is built as an apache module it could well have been caching the old values. Thanks again for all the hard work!
