What type of ear protection does everyone use in here?

What type of ear protection do you use? How do you like it? What dont you like about it? How much was it? .... I dont know what to get for myself.

Ear protection is measured in decibels of sound reduction. Buy the model with highest NRR rating that you find comfortable to wear. I like the Peltor Ultimate 10 over-the-head earmuffs with NRR of 30 db, generally around $18-20. When shooting my .44 mags or when range is crowded, I wear a set of in-the-ear plugs under the Peltors. Note you do NOT get a combined rating. If the ear plugs rate at 15 and the earmuffs rate at 30, you do NOT get a combined use rating of 45. The combined rating is somewhat less than the sum of separate ratings.

Earplugs, normally under $.70, AND Peltor muffs (I prefer the folding kind, slimmer and take up less space in the gunbag).
(Have a set of the Ultimate Ten, used for under-the-deck chronoing....)

After some time, you might investigate the amplified types (Pro Ears) but they cost considerably more.

I normally use the foam earplugs. If someone's next to me at the range with a boomer I'll put the folding Peltors over the foam plugs. (Pretty much same setup as WESHOOT.)

I use Leightning 31s and foam plugs. Even combined I still notice a slight increase in my tinnitus for a few hours after shooting if it was at an indoor range or an outdoor range with a covered firing line.

Mine are rated at 29 db. Like most, I wear plugs under the muffs when shooting inside a range.

The Magnum's do work great Mike, but I'm just tired of saying "Eh?? Whadya say????" to everybody around me.

Someone loaned me a pair of electronic muffs a while back and I guess they spoiled me.

I wear (at least) a pair of muffs. My preferred protection is 33dB foam plugs and Peltor Tactical 7S electronic muffs. That lets me hear what's going on around me and provides excellent hearing protection.

About 15 years ago, I had an audiologist fit me with a pair of latex molded ear plugs. He plugged my ear canal just short of the eardrum, and filled the canal and most of my outer ear with the latex, and inserted a small handle for removal. Excellent protection, and clean in dish water. About $25 as I remember.
