Star BM - Firing pin removal???
I am in the process of refinishing a Star BM and I would like to remove the firing pin. Removing the rear sight reveals the large head of what appears to be the firing pin's retaining pin. The smaller end of that retaining pin appears to be exposed on the under side of the slide. Sooooo ... it would seem logical that a little tap with a punch on the small end of the retaining pin would take care of things, but the retaining pin doesn't move, even with a reasonably firm tap. I just wanted to know if this just needs more force, or if there is a trick (ie. the firing pin needs to be in a certain position, or some such thing).
TIA, Saands |

info
It most likely just needs a good firm couple of taps to get it moving along. Depending on the amount of dried oil and how long it has been in the gun can both cause it to be hard to come out. Use a good punch and a firm hand to get it started and once it is loose, it should just tap out for you.
