Why not make quoting easier??
This is a GREAT forum, but the procedure necessary for quoting someone (including their user name) is a nuisance! Most forums make that easy. Can't that be added to the forum's user interface? (Otherwise, this is a top-quality forum).

We used to have a quote button.
People abused it badly. People would literally quote an entire 400 or 500 word message to add a three word response. And someone would quote mess to add a response to it, and someone would quote the growing mess, and so forth and so on. I named it Quotarding. So, because people refused to think about what they were quoting, they essentially ruined it for everyone. It would be nice if the forum software had a setting that would strip out nestled quotes (Simple Machines forum software has that), but it doesn't, so a quote button won't be coming back any time soon.

mike(1st one),
quoting on this site is very easy. I put the person's name in subject line many times. as for putting a pix, i know how to attach but do not know how to make it display just by someone viewing the thread(mine is an attachment in blue people have to click on). that is probably easy too LOL but I am clueless on how to do it...

Exactly! ^^Just like that^^ Paste the part you want to quote into your reply window, select the text, click the quote button Scroll down below your reply box, find the person's name that you're quoting, select and copy it, and add "={pastethename}" after the word quote, so it looks like [quote=JimBo] The whole thing takes about 5 seconds.

For youngunz - " ... i know how to attach but do not know how to make it display ..."
As you guessed that is easy also. Just grab the attachment URL up to and including the attachmentid and surround it by IMG tags (or use the Insert image icon), and you'll make it display just like any other image. For example, this code: [img]http://thefiringline.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=82231[/img] will yield this for you: |

OK, I guess I'll be closing down the entire forum, then, because guns simply aren't politically correct, and God forbid any of you who are carping be associated with something so politically incorrect as guns.
How can you stand yourselves? I don't do politically correct. I also NEVER refer to a developmentally disabled person as a retard, 'tard, or anything of the like. That's mean, crass, and derogatory. I do, however, refer to developmentally NORMAL people, the ones to go far out of their way to be asshats, as 'tards, or a variation of such, because in those cases it is my purpose and intention to be mean, crass, and derogatory to them, and them alone. So, while your curiously selective PC outrage is noted (as is the delicious irony), it is dismissed out of hand.

This just made several of us look like Ja55's. Is it reply window or reply box-or are there both and where are they???? |

I believe the question has been answered along with a multitude of posts that have nothing to do with the OP.
