Repair of high gloss plastic finish?
I picked up a rimfire with a factory hard poly finish, it has some scratches on the finish but not the wood. Any easy repair?
The proper repair would probably be a total strip of the finish and reapply a coating like the manufacturer's original. (Weatherby). Ideas and information would help! TIA, JPG |

I have fixed that kind of thing with a small brush and polyurethane. You can buy the stuff in small cans, and if you do it right, you can blend it in perfectly. Clear nail polish will also work (and comes with a brush), but the polyurethane is more durable.

You may be able to rub out the scratches if they are shallow. Auto rubbing compound or wood-finish rottenstone should work.
