pretty little gems part 2 "hornet style"
I've still been prepping 5.7 cases, but needed a break, so I opted for a another little gem, & thought I'd offer up some pics... can you tell I don't use the primer on my press??? I use a Lee hand primer... anyway here's how I go from 22 Hornet to 17 K Hornet...
my local retired machinist / builder / friend & mentor built me this neck sizer use to pre-form the necks, so the sizing die doesn't destroy the thin little cases... 22 Hornet case ready to pre-form... case is pre-formed

the loss...
I really love the 17 K Hornet... but it's alot of work... fireforming suffers a little more loss also... I probably would be shooting the new 17 Fireball if I didn't already have this old Contender barrel... but someone has to keep these little gems from falling into obscurity... besides loading is a hobby in of itself... if anyone else loads for the 17 K or Akley... post up...

I feel your pain! The hornet is a pain to mess with. I have a 22 K Hornet and even though they are formed in the gun for the most part I still loose a few reloading them.
I have heard the 5.7 is a PITA to load. Its a neat round but it think FN wanted it to be a factory only round. I have not even seen unfired brass for it. What do you do about the coating, just don't worry about it or does it have to be there to function? I just got me a fun gun. I got a CX4 Storm in 9mm. Not sure what i will do with it but my wife really liked shooting it. Its the first time she has come out in the yard and shot with me in a while. Are you shooting the 5.7 out of a pistol or a P90 besides the T/C? I am looking for a T/C Barrel in 32-20 if I find one that will be my 10th T/C barrel. Have fun with the 17k Hornet. 17's are fun guns and they kill much better than the should on Varmints.........................Sam

God, how I'd like to do something like that with the 218 Bee. It's case is a lot more durable and a little higher capacity. Anyone know if there is a 17 Bee? jd
