I traded an lcr357 for one a couple weeks ago. I couldn't be happier. It has digested everything I have fed it without a hitch. I recently picked up a set if pierce grip extensions and a powder river precision spring kit for it and now love the way it shoots!!!

xds
Just picked one up for $579 in Ohio....Put a 100 rds through it and was flawless. Accurate, thin, light, and recoil was better than I expected.
Highly recommend it for CCW! |

Picked up the bi-tone for 540.00 OTD at our local gun show approximately 3 weeks ago! Have put about 75 rounds through it. . . without issue! Carrying Corbon DPX in it currently (have several boxes of Remington GS after that). Nice...very nice. Just a tad bigger than the Kahr PM45, but with no mention of a 200 round break-in, fiber optic front sight, adjustable backstrap, 2 mags, several accessories, nice case, and less $$$!!! WINNER! (Kahr PM40 is staying home more now.)

I had never seen an XDs in person when I traded the lcr for it. I based my decision on the fact that I loved my xd45. That and I can reload it much faster than the wheel gun. I do miss that the lcr fit so much better in a pocket.
So was trading the lcr for it really that good of a deal? I do like the XDs better but was it a smoking deal or just a fair trade |

I did have some Failure to Fire issues...maybe 5 or 6 in 150 rounds. I didn't clean the gun before I shot it. Light primer strikes. All fired on the 2nd time around.
Cleaned and expect to put 100 rounds of WWB thru it in the next few days Yes it is an accurate little piece...I am a pretty self admitted bad shot and it made me look decent lol |

got one several months ago, local shop had one for $525 several weeks ago. Lot of "lift" with 230 plus p loads, but very accurate. It is off work carry piece in a crossbreed super tuck, with combat cut.
Make sure the striker channel is cleaned out. |

My wife got me one for Christmas. I like it. I have about 400 rounds through it now. I had a couple light primer strikes at about rounds 175 and 180, nothing since then. Recoil is managable enough and considering it's size its pretty accurate.

Get the powder river kit for it. For $14 it makes a huge difference in the trigger.

The main thing that keeps me from getting one (other than the money) is that it does not have the pin protruding out the rear when cocked. I always saw that as an advantage with Springfield, but others may not see it as important. The xds are my favorite guns.

The XDs doesn't need the cocking indicator that other xd's have. The trigger on the XDs stays back unless it cocked. So if the trigger forward it is cocked. Other model xd's trigger will return forward when not cocked.
As for the powder river kit: it is a set of 5 springs you change in the gun with the end result of a considerable reduction in trigger pull weight. http://shop.powderriverprecision.net...&categoryId=15 |

How difficult are the springs to switch out? I've only ever field stripped mine and I'm sort of between gunsmiths at the moment, but a lighter trigger would be nice.
I'm also digging their grip sticker thing. Looks like it would be a much better looking final product than most of the alternatives.

The springs aren't that hard to install. Here is a link with a step by step of how to tear down the gun

@ 2tango2. Springfield does recommend that the XDs be ran a little wet. I personally like to run my guns pretty dry. Just how I was taught and never had problems. I typically oil the slide rail grooves and wipe with a qtip. I don't wipe dry on the XDs though. Also keep a drop on the front of the barrel at the breach where the slide rolls up over.
The XDs also has the loaded chamber indicator on the top of the slide. |

Anyone know if there will be a .40 version of xds?
I loved my xdm in .40, but double stacks are a bit large for my barbie-doll size hands.

Susposed to be 40 and 9mm later this year. My XDs paddle holster says 45, 40, 9mm on the back of it. So I'd bet it will happen

I am going to change the grips though. Either do a hogue or a inner tube |

Ordered one today, likely to replace my PM9 for EDC, $545 + tax ... I have an XDm in 9mm and love it, Springfield's plastic guns are amazing, especially given the stuff that comes with them ... will post a review when I get it and haul it to the range ... uhoh wait ... is it an assault weapon?? hmmmm

Shot my brother in law's XDS last fall, and loved it. I had a hard time finding one for myself, but finally scored in January, at a gun store in Alabama. I bought two, the basic black, and one with the stainless slide. I paid $439 for the black one, $499 for the other.
At the range, they both performed well. I have over 300 rounds through them both now. No failures of any kind. They have less 'felt' recoil than some of my large, full size 1911 pistols. I find them to be very accurate. My best 10 yard, three shot group was 1.25 inches. Worst was 2.5 inches. I also purchased several of the 7 round magazines. They give a different feel to the pistol, but most of the time, I carry with the 5 round mag, and one up the spout. I find that I one of them constantly now, my CZ 75D PCR and my Wilson Combat CQB Compact are sitting in the safe.

Took mine to the range last week, put the first 100 rounds through it without a failure ... great accuracy at SD distances, recoil is not an issue if you have a reasonably strong grip, all 100 rds into the 9 ring or better ... can't ask any more of it than that ... ordering one of the longer mags for a better grip but I can almost get my pinkie on the bottom and there's plenty to hold on to ... not sure how this is going to work for pocket carry but it disappears in the paddle holster that comes with the gun and is easy to position and draw from ...
