Colt New Line .41 RF repair?

Might move this to the 'Smithy forum but thought I would try here first...

I have a .41 Rimfire Colt New Line revolver that was carried by a distant relative to California and back in the later 1800's, and which was carried by my Grandfather in the early 1900's. It's no longer cocking, needs to be taken apart, repaired, and put back into working shape. As an heirloom, it's worth more than gold to me.

Any advice on a VERY reputable blackpowder-era revolver 'smith expert in these things?

David R. Chicoine & Son

He wrote the book, and comes right out and says that repairing real antiques can take quite a while to complete. But being able to utilize his wealth of experience and attention to detail could be worth it. Might want to check with him first to see how he's doing and what his backlog is.

Look around his website to learn the details about how he operates:

Thanks Buddy. I figured you would know.

This is the sort of thing that I would fly to a smith with, deliver by hand, look at the shop, shake the hand, and then come back in a year. Some things are more valuable than money.
