Limb Saver: Worth It, Or Waste Of Money?
I just recently came across a recoil pad for rifles and shotguns called the Limb Saver. It claims to reduce felt recoil by up to 70%. I'm tempted to try one on my 870 and see if it makes a difference for slugs and buckshot. I know that felt recoil is subjective, but I'm wondering: Has anyone tried it, and what did you think?

I put a Limbsaver on my 12 gauge Benelli Nova. It made a huge difference. Two rounds of trap or skeet is no problem now.
Good luck! Tom |

I have one on a Mossberg 500 and another on a
930SPX. Would not go back to shooting them without, due to a bad shoulder. It's worth it for me. |

I haven't put one on a shotgun, but I have put one on my Remington 700 .30-06. Huge difference, and I absolutely recommend it.

I have one on my Tikka and it's worth every penny.... I didn't think a recoil pad could make this much difference.

I have a slip on Limbsaver I got at Walmart for $20, and it made a huge difference. I love this thing and use it all the time. It's worth every penny.

Best money you can spend. Made my 30-06 recoil like a 243.

I put one on my .30-06 and it made such a difference, that before if I shot 20 rounds off the bench I was done, now I can shoot until I'm tired of shooting rather than because it starts to hurt. We also put one on my son's .30-06. He's a big ole grown man, but he claims that it tamed his rifle as well.
They're doing great things with recoil pad technology, and a Limbsaver, or Pachmayr Decelerator, or the Remington Super Cell are all great pads. |

Well, looks like it's unanimous thus far. My nearest gun shop sells the Limb Saver; I guess I'm due to part with about $40.00 pretty soon. Thanks again, y'all!

I put one on my Mosin sporter in a Boyds stock, and no problem now sending 100 rounds a day from a rifle in the .06 class.
Just made my own stock for a new Savage and ordered another grind-to-fit for that one. Well worth it. |

My 870 came with one on the back end of a Knoxx Specops stalk. It's wonderful. I get no soreness and I can put shells down range rapidly.

Have slip ons installed on my single shot shotguns. Do a great job of reducing recoil. I will use them for this purpose on all single shots
Put one on an 11-87 and it shifted sometimes when I was taking multiple shots such as in 5 stand, but not terribly. Sort of felt strange at the very least. I wouldn't use slip ons for semi-auto. Slip ons are dirt cheap and don't damage the gun to install, so you can't go wrong trying them. |

They work remarkably well.
I was also skeptical, until I tried one.

The limb saver on my .338 Win. Mag Tikka started to seep sticky goo after a few rounds. Someone told me it was a cureing flaw in the material. I replaced it with a different make.

Used one on my Benelli 12 gauge Nova and cut down on the felt recoil. Good investment. Highly recommend it.

Got one of those slip ons from walmart for $0.99. Works great, wish I would've bought all they had.

I've never had a problem with recoil, but since installing a Limbsaver on 4 of my rifles, my range time seems to be more enjoyable. I put about 20 through my '06, 25 through my 243, 36 in the 6.5 mag, and about 4 boxes in the SBEII in 1 day at the range and was only slightly sore the next day.
I do however doubt the 40% reduction in muzzle climb. They may tame that some, but no where near half. |

I put one on my 870. Took a shot, replaced pad, took another shot. While the Limbsaver helped a little, I really had to pay a lot of attention to notice. Had I not done it all within a few minutes, I probably would not have noticed any difference. 70% reduction in felt recoil is hogwash in my experience. I put it all on video to get my immediate reaction permanently documented.. I wouldn’t call it a waste of money, but definitely not up to all the claims. If you want a reduction in felt recoil, shoot lighter loads.

worked on my 12 gauge. Store gun butt up to not distort the soft rubber. In normal use it should serve for many years.

Try a handgun Limbsaver on small carry gun. You'll think you bought a new gun.

Their are two add on accessories for guns that i feel are well worth the money. One is Limbsaver recoil pads and the other is Hogue grips. Get one.

I put it on my FNH Police Tactical Pump. Wow! Slug rounds are not an issue.
