Does the HK P2000 have a thinner grip than the USP compact?
Yello,
I've been hearing different stories on the widths of these pistols. I know they take the same mags but is there a grip difference as far as width goes? Thank you Take care |

I have never measured them but I know the P2000 is pretty slim for a double stack. I would say its slimmer than the USP. Have you checked the website?

The H&K P2000 is 1.2 inches thick in the grip. The H&K Website has the USP C at 1.14 for overall width - The grip is either that wide or thinner, so the USP C is thinner in grip width.
The grip on the P2000 could have an overall smaller dimension because the backstrap is replaceable and with the smallest backstrap - overall dimension could be smaller. |

P2000 fits much better for smallish hands IMO. Replaceable backstrap is the reason. Fits like a glove. Smoother on the hands too.

I've got smallish hands and extensively groped both the P2000 and the USP compact. (whoa, that sounded weird ). I have not measured the grips, but I do know the P2000 fits much better in my hand than the USPc. It certainly felt slimmer to me. So, FWIW...

I did measure - that is the widest measurement I got off of the grip width. I don't know that somebody could tell the difference between 6 hundredths of an inch. The P2000 comes with 3 or four different size backstraps. A P2000 grip with the smallest backstrap has a smaller circumfrence in 40 than a Glock 26 in 9 MM.

What makes the P2K wider is the ambi safety. I have one of each and I like the P2k much more than the USP/c.

The P2000 does not have a safety.
I have a USPc .45 and a P2000. The grip on my USP is definitely more bricklike, but it's not a huge difference. As far as the USPc .40s go, the grip is much closer to the P2000's. I say go handle both of them and see which one you like better. I don't see a need to take calipers to the gunshop.

If you've heard all the measurements i've been told by people I think you'd understand. It turns out the P2000 is slightly slimmer than the USP compact. I think the difference comes from the grip texturing. The USPC feels better in my hand, but I was only able to try the P2000 with the backstrap that was already on it which felt like a small one. Thanks everyone. Take care |
