Sorry for a dumb question-But

What exactly is a "Sporter Stock" and how does it differ from a regular stock.

Thanks

Same same

A sporter stock is indeed the regular stock by another name as opposed to "tactical" stocks designed primarily for law enforcement needs such as pistol grip, folding stock etc.

Not neccesarily, some "sporter" stocks are made to avoid stupid rules, like this vz-58 Sporter stock with "thumbhole" grip.

Same rifle some time later with folding stock, non "sporter/sporting" and anethema in some states and locales.

Law enforcement has nothing to do with it, I liked the heads up of a red dot, and the folding stock meant it took less room for storage.

As a rule sporter refers to hunting type stock as opposed to a military type.

A "Sporter" or "Thumbhole" type stock is meant, at least in some cases, to provide a way around generally foolish and stupid regulations like these:

Detachable magazine, yes, but no "Pistol Grip" if it's a "Thumbhole" stock and them you can still have the dreaded "Assault Bayonet Lug" or one of the other "high crime" features like a grenade launcher...
