Whats the difference between a boxlock and a sidelock? Any info would help. Thanks guys.

Not a stupid question at all and in fact, very important when dealing with doubles and their evolution and variants. Basically it's the position/location of the locks, in relation to the barrels. ...

A sidelock has the lockwork situated on sideplates that sit right above the trigger. Most sidelocks are removable allowing easy repair to broken main springs and other parts. Many believe the triggers are better on the sidelock, while others feel the wood is weaker in the area where the locks are.

Noted gun writer Michael McIntosh is reputed to have put over 90,000 rounds through his AyA #2 which is a sidelock without issues, so take that for what it is worth.
Even without engraving, sidelocks tend to need more hand fitting and finishing, so they also cost more

On the sidelock, the hammers-sears-springs are all mounted on a plate that is seperate from the action/barrels. Generally a sidelock gun will cost much more than a boxlock because of the precision work involved for the inletting the locks into the stock.

In many of the British hunting shotguns/rifles sidelocks were a feature as the locks could be removed and serviced in the field.

Please note that some modern makers have put false side plates on boxlock guns. They look like sidelock guns but the plate is there for decoration and extra metal for engraving.

Thank yall for your help, looking into a shotgun for about 1000 or less. Recommendations would bee nice. A.H Fox would be nice, put some love into it. I also like CZ. No opinion is ever turned away. Thanks guys.

A shotgun for under 1000 would usually mean a pump or used gas gun. You might check CDNN to see what they have - now and again they get Lanbers and even some Browning field models for somewhere close to that amount.
A SxS under 1000 would mean a Huglu-made CZ - which can be or miss quality wise. For a few bucks more, look at the S&W Elite Gold, now called the Dickinson from Cabela's. WHile Turkish, they are made to a mucher standard than the current Huglu CZ's with better balance, triggers, wood to metal fit, etc.
I own the S&W version - it was a good buy at original price of $2500 but it was an absolute steal when discontinued for $1200
