Rossi 511 revolver problem

Friend brought a .22 Rossi 511 over to me to try to repair. Needless to say, I know absolutely nothing about Rossi revolvers. Trigger would not reset correctly every fourth or fifth pull. Pulling the pistol apart, I found slight galling where the spur on the trigger was contacting the side plate. Honed the trigger spur, checked all parts for wear and checked spring compression and then reassembled, thinking I had the problem fixed. Same problem. Took gun apart and checked parts again. This time I noticed some galling on the hammer block as it rides in the slot in the sideplate. I honed and trued the hammer block and reinstalled; same problem. Out of frustration I left the hammer block out and put the gun back together. The thing functions perfectly. Has anyone else had this problem? Guess it's a call to gun parts to order another hammer block.

Did you try stoning the top of the rebound slide where it contacts the bottom of the hammer and also the hammer at that point? Also where the hammer block rides on the rebound slide; that little cut in the hammer block can bind also.

That problem can also result from playing with the mainspring and the trigger return spring, so you might have to replace one or the other.

You have a source for Rossi 511 parts?,,,

I have one of those little guys,,,
It's a wonderful 5 shooter.

It was given to me by a friend,,,
Because the cylinder will only turn for 5 shots.

The ratchet on the cylinder has been worn in one spot,,,
The cylinder will turn perfectly for 5 shots,,,
Then there is nothing to engage.

It's so close to size and shape of my Model 18,,,
I wouldn't mind sinking a small bit of cash into fixing it.

If you wouldn't mind,,,
I would like to know where to try and order a new ratchet.

Thanks,,,

Aarond
