Does anyone make a 1911 like this?
I am seeking a 1911 pistol with an alloy Officers frame,
4" commander barrel in 9mm. Does any company make such a pistol?

The Sig-Sauer C3 comes to mind. I'm sure there are others as well.
http://www.sigsauer.com/CatalogProdu...s/1911-c3.aspx Sorry, didn't pay attention to the 9mm part. I think the C3 is only .45. You may have to go to one of the higher end companies to find this in 9mm. |

Hunter Customs pretty much summed it up, however i'm sure some gun maker has one in their line-up, but it ain't going to be cheap.

I'm aware that I can build one like what I want with a Caspian Titanium frame and other parts, but the final cost is staggering.

I had a Fusion 9mm CCO with an alloy frame. Clearly there are some other options, none of them cheap.

I have a Springfield Range Officer for sale. It's 9MM, but full size. I wanted a Commander and was told RIA was the only one in that size in 9mm. I'm thinking about buying a Saws-All. Maybe I can cut it down!

Sounds like a Colt Commander to me. How about the used market and auction sites? (Not the Combat Commander, which has a steel frame.)

If Springfield comes out with a Range Officer Compact in 9mm, you'll have your gun in a reasonably-priced package.

Colt light weight commander. Mine is .38 super. It's a pretty good fit for off the rack.

there are no normal makers of them.
9mm cco is the gun I have wanted for a long time. the cheapest option is to pick up the 9mm officers RIA and Commander RIA and swap slides. the guy that does their smithing work can fit them. Someone mentioned they had done it before. however there might be a gap at the dust cover. it would probably still be around 1k. fusion is the next option as mentioned above, however if you read about them, you would probably step away. but this would be hand fit for around 2k to 2500. the last one is "production" from nighthawk, the ladyhawk comes in either 9mm or 45. I believe it is just shy of 3k or it might be more than 3k by a bit. it seems there is one other choice other than full custom makers, but I can't think of it right now. |

You might check STI and see what they have to offer,
The Springfield EMP is a nice little 9mm, even though it's not a 1911. Best Regards Bob Hunter www.huntercustoms.com |

If you don't mind going a hair shorter and you can find one, Springfield used to make a lightweight 9mm "Ultra Compact". It is Officer sized - short frame, 3.5" barrel - and makes for a nicely balanced, good shooting little gun. Personally, I prefer that configuration over the CCO, feels better in my hand.
This is the Fusion 9mm CCO-

The STI Spartan is fairly close, looks like everything you want except for the alloy frame.

I purchased an American Classic Commander in 9mm, blued, back in September. It shoots incredibly great, but the ejector broke the front peg broke flush with the frame somehow. The smith at the service center said he'd never seen that happen before on any pistol. So they replaced the whole thing. I chalk that up to just being a bad part, 100 to 1 shot. The replacement arrived quickly, is of just as good quality (sans ejector issue) and shoots great.
I think I paid around $500. Very impressed with it. The only caveat is its all steel, not alloy framed like you're looking for. |

Kimber Pro Carry II is close. 4" barrel, aluminum frame, available in 9mm but grip frame is not officer size.
