Well, here's what my first .223 loads did. *pics*

I loaded four batches of 5 for each bullet I used, with four increasing powder charges. Here are the best groups for each bullet. These are all 5 shot groups at 100 yards. I need to tighten up the group on the Sierra bullet, but I think I just had them loaded at too short an overall length.

Nosler 50gr Ballistic Tip
27.0gr Hodgdon BL(C)-2
CCI 400 Primer
OAL - 2.250":

Hornady 60gr V-Max
26.0gr Hodgdon Varget
CCI 400 Primer
OAL - 2.250":

Sierra 69gr Matchking Hollow Point
25.0gr Hodgdon Varget
CCI 400 Primer
OAL - 2.235":

Rifle is an Olympic Arms K16. It's an AR-15 with a 16" bull barrel. Not too bad for a cheap rifle and my first time reloading this caliber.

I think I'm going to get hooked on precision reloading/shooting. Here comes big money for reloading gear and a nice benchrest .223 rifle!

Might I suggest a Remington PSS or an LTR for your out of the box precision rifle. Both are chambered in .223 and .308.

You have found what I only too recently found... it's hard to beat BLC-2 powder - at least for cartridges like .223.
Have your fun, and experiment around, but I doubt that you'll do much better in the powder department. jd
