Part 2 of the Ruger Old Army Projectile test
In this episode I put a 225-grain conical bullet through it's paces in the Ruger Old Army Buntline.
This projectile had the best accuracy and muzzle energy of the three. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYf9JntMdJc |

Thank again !!
Again, well done. I have never shot conicals out of my ROA but was always led to believe that the RB's were more accurate. Gong to have to rethink that one. ....
I also noticed that you did not refer to the use of #10 primers or seating dowel. Just going to assume that is what you used. .... Be Safe !!!

Yup. I know I need to repeat some info from one video to another in this series, but I try to avoid too much rehash. I probably should have put that scene in.

If the folks follow your series, then no problem but if not, they won't get this good info. Again, thank you for your post. ....

Of course, whether the accuracy results are scientific or not, we all love watching Mike make smoke any way that he can! Last edited by arcticap; August 9, 2012 at 03:47 PM. |

That is true. the 14", octagon barrel was machined from a Shillen match grade barrel blank.
It also has a fully tuned action. What can I say, it is a real custom gun. I'm working out a loan of a pair of stock ROAs, one in 7.5" and the other in 5.5" from a pard in California. After I get them I'll run some tests to see how the stock guns perform. |

I'd certainly be interested in what the stock Old Army's do!
I'm a little guy and the 7 1/2" barrel on mine is enough! That thing would probably pull my pants down! |

Mike - if your deal with your pard in CA doesn't work out, send me a PM. I may be able to help. |
