Need help identifying an old shotgun

I have an old shotgun that was my grandpa's, it is in a 12 guage pump action
On the side of the receiver it says "Ranger" with some fancy scroll work around the letters .In the lower corner it says "Model 30x. The gun breaks down by turning the magazine tube and unscrewing the barell and tube from the receiver. Also near the trigger guard is some numbers "U88846" stamped in the metal. The barell is stamped "proof Tested 12 Guage". No other marking on this gun i can locate .Any help Out there?

Ranger is a brand name used by Sears, but I can't find a shotgun listed as the Model 30.

Dfariswheel is correct, "Ranger" was a tradename used by Sears, Roebuck & Co. for various arms it sold. It was also a tradename used by the J. Stevens Arms Company. According to one of my references, a Ranger model 30 (without the "X") corresponds to a Stevens model 520A (also a pump-gun), so this might be it.

Hope this helps.

Good luck, and good shooting!
