7mm wby and IMR 7828
Ok,
Just picked up a german made mark V weatherby in 7mm WBY mag and scored almost 1k of bullets with it. I just picked up some new brass and am going to work up loads for it. Only 2 catches are 1. I only have large rifle and large rifle benchrest primers left on hand 2. only have access to IMR 7828 (actually scored 4 pounds at the gun shop yesterday for $15 a pound). I have plenty of IMR4895 and Varget for my non magnums, but this was the only powder i could find that was recommended for the 7mm WBY. i already know that my velocities and pressures will be lower than advertised due to the non magnum primers, but that is something I will have to live with until I can score some magnum primers. I have never loaded IMR7828 and have been reading that it is super slow (my 26" barrel will come in handy for that) and gives a bit more kick than say RL22. Anyone use IMR7828 in a 7mm (wby, rem, STW, etc...) ? JOE

IMR7828 is indeed a very slow powder, and is recommended only for loads with heavy bullets (>154 gr in 7mm Weatherby in Hornady #7). Large rifle primers should work well.

With 154s in my 7Rem; however, I would never use LR primers with 7828.

well, I talked a neighbor out of 100 large rifle magnum primers in exchange for some cci benchrest large rifle primers and I will load up some of each and see just how well the LR compare to LRM's.
now just waiting for the gun to arrive so I can go and test the loads out.
