6PPC VS. 6.5x.284 - Same bolt face???
Does the 6PPC and the 6.5 x .284 use the same size bolt face???

That stinks, I found a guy that's got a 6PPC benchrest rifle for a good price. I was hoping that I could put a 6.5 x .284 barrel on it and be ready at 1,000 yards, BUT, it looks like that's a no go......... : - (

Yeah, that old 6mm PPC is probably near worn out. I bet those groups have opened to almost .090". Practically worthless! Offer to trade him your old pocket knife for it.
Actually, depending on the action, you may be able to open up the bolt face, but you could never lengthen the action.

So a good rifle smith could get the 6PPC bolt face to accept the 6.5 x .284???
