New Gun for a new member
Hello to all. I have enjoyed the discussions on this forum and the insight into the many realms of gun ownership and usage. I am now a member and would appreciate some input into my current situation.
I am buying a new hand gun within the next few months and I had some questions. The use of the gun will primarily be for target shooting, as my friend is getting me interested in USPSA as well as home defence. I have narrowed my list down but this is definitely not definitive. I am on a slight budget; under $650 or so (I am aware that the Kimber and Sig are right about there) Kimber Custom II Sig P220 Baby Eagle CZ 97 I am the current owner of a Nighthawk .357 magnum, but I would like a Semi auto in the .45ACP caliber. Any thoughts on these guns or similar ones that may peak my interest, please don’t hesitate to put in your two cents. Thanks -Jake |

I enjoy my Kimber Raptor very much, but my custom was over your $650 price.
I believe that SPRINGFIELD TRP .45 ACP is great 1911 and not as pricey. I do not have one yet and it is not on your list, but I am sure you will here a lot about it from here. Happy shopping! |

guns are personal
S&W M&P / Ruger P90/P345 / Springfield Armory XD / Glock 21 / Springfield Armory as-much-as-you-can-afford 1911, and same goes for S&W 1911.

Steyr M-A1 at around $400-$450. 9mm or .40 S&W. Great gun. Tight, comfortable, and accurate.

CZ97 if you have large hands. If not, P220.

Have you considered the Beretta PX4 in 45ACP. It lists for $650.

Thanks
Thanks for the replies guys. That PX4 has given me something to look at. In case I want to carry, it would be nice.

Yes, PX4s are also very nice. They are not popular because they don't have that classical gun look. But they have very nice triggers, great ergonomics, are accurate, have a great finish, the list goes on.
I've shot a laser-equipped one in 9mm, and it was just great. Kind of hard to miss if I did my part.

new worlds
Explore what folks use for USPSA; find out if appropriate gear is readily available, same with parts for personalizing.
(The CZ97 was designed to feed ball only). Often, guns are not "popular" for good reason.......
