Heavy 357mag load info
I plan on using a Dan Wesson 357Mag for whitetail deer in PA, max shot from my tree stand will be about 50 yards. If all goes well the shot will not be much over 20 yards. I'm going to load up some 158 XTP's with a stiff load of LiL'Gun or W296, can I use Small Rifle primers instead of Small pistol Mag primmers?

W296
You can, but you don't need to, and SR primers WILL increase pressure.

Stick with small pistol magnum primers. I have had good results with CCI magnum primers. By the way, what barrel are you using on that Dan Wesson. I had one years ago with a 6 inch heavy ventilated and a 8 inch standard barrel, blue, really nice gun, really miss it.

Are those XTP's the hollow point or flat point version?
I would reccomend the flat point variety for hunting use.
