Rock River Arms LRA-8 AR-10
Hey gents
I saw a Rock River Arms LAR-8 AR-10 at a gun show last weekend and it as love at first sight. I absolutely loved the very crisp 2 stage trigger and the rifle had a very nice heft and balance to it. I am looking at the 20" A4 model with a free floating quad rail. It will be destined for a scope and I am not sure if I will even bother to put irons on it, at least not immediately. The quality and fit and finish of the rife seemed to be of a very high level to me. The rifle comes in right at $1500 dressed out with the rail. I have read good reviews on it but would like to see what some of your impressions are of this rifle Thanks! |

The 20" 7.62 AR's are heavy, not the best choice for packing around all day.
Buy the best barrel you can afford if you want long range accuracy. |

RRA uses FAL-pattern magazines. So there are not a large number of suppliers. The surplus deals have dried up, so you have RRA and DS Arms.
They do not need irons, especially if you are adding a magnified scope. |

They are great guns. Extremely accurate. I have an LAR-8 thats is wicked accurate. It's not a pack around gun by any means, but if you are at the range or in a deer stand, it's damn near perfect.

None of them are light. I've got the 16 inch model and use it to hunt with but when u add all of the must have accessories to the rails plus a full magazine it can be a big pain to carry about.

no 7.62 caliber AR is light unless you want to drop $3k plus. i wouldn't want to lug any of them around all day. love my lar-8 standard operator, but i'm not going to lug it around. the factory mag feeds great, but the DSA 20rnd mags never feed the last round. really wish magpul would make mags for these.
200yd bench rest with the light surplus stuff, and i've only fired about 100 rounds of 308 in my life.
