I don't have the whole target but since you're not at peace I suggest you search his books or articles for the whole picture as I'm near 100% sure the picture of this exact target was published before it was cut for mailing. Don't sit in doubt, search & be at peace, you need not believe without proof.

Some folks, I really doubt that they'd cheat on such a trivial issue. Heck, I've cut the "pertinent" part out of more than one target. Make it fit in a billfold or send via snail mail.

Frank built that rifle on a Pre-64 Winchester action for Mr. Keith.
Just a nit-pick, no offense intended. That is a pre-war Winchester Model 70 (clover leaf tang), not just a pre-64. Very nice rifle, albeit a little elaborate for my tastes!

Yea I don't go for all the embellishment stuff.

I like a plain rifle, no filigree etc. Other like it, interesting spectrum.

You're welcome. Post this stuff for your enjoyment not to stir controversy. Mr. Keith liked engraving especially on sixguns. Said it hid a multitude of scratches.

Admittedly, the load and cartridge were a hint, but the handwriting was somehow familiar.
I was pretty sure it was Elmer.I only met him once, but he wrote something in my copy of "Hell,I was There".

I loaned it to someone,it disappeared.....bummer.
