338 lapua mag build

Looking to build long gun in this caliber. I was thinking about using 700 action but have read and been told it would be pushing its limits. What would be the go to action I would need. Been told to use the weatherby mark v.

I'd use one of Kirby's actions and have him build it.

I would go with either a Stiller 338 (already blueprinted) or, if you can find one, a ZKK 602 action which will need to be trued up. If you like the Remington action, the Stiller 338 is a scaled up copy, and if you like Mauser actions the ZKK 602 is a magnum square bridge Mauser.

I am building up a 30-338 RUM, which is ever-so-slightly faster than a 338 Lapua, and a whole lot cheaper to run. I am using a ZKK 602 action.

You could get a used Win. 70 and use its action then have its locking lugs, bolt and receiver face trued up. They'll hold a barrel and shoot bullets just as accurate as a custom one costing a lot more. And hold bedding a lot better than any round one.
