Bear Pills
So, my buddy gave me some loads that he bought in Alaska around 25 years ago. The circumstance of his purchase was due to a bear attack the day before he arrived. I guess the guy was killed and chewed up pretty bad. Every grocery, gas station, or general store had these "Bear Pills" up on the counter near the usual candy or gum that sits near the cash register.
I pulled the bullets last evening to see what was what. The 310 gr cast bullets are most certainly not pure lead and were loaded with 17.2 grs of some spherical powder. The 300 gr Jacketed looked to be loaded with W296 or H110 at 18.4 grs. I don't remember the C.O.A.L. but, the hard cast offerings were bloody long. Both loads had a hard crimp especially the cast cartridges.........in took quite a few whacks of the bullet puller to separate them. I just thought it was interesting history of reloads in other parts of the country and days gone bye. Here's a look......sorry about the fuzzy picture

I figured as much, since 25 years ago the 44 was the big daddy.
