anyone ccw while on motorcycle?

i just turned 21 in august, and as soon as the money comes up i'm gonna get my ccp and a good ccw or 2. I have 2 harleys, and also a kawasaki ninja, and i was wondering, does anyone carry while on their bike? if so whats the best method?

i'm not even sure if its such a great idea(depends on the holster and method of carry i'm sure) but when i'm on my bike i feel most vulnerable cuz i'm w/o cover if something was to go down.

I use inside the waist band (IWB) under a jacket or vest for my full size guns or pocket carry (jacket or pants) for my 642.

I also carry IWB or in my leather jacket. What type of Harleys do you have Jake? I ride an FLSTN.

i carry when i ride......either in the inside pocket of my jacket (i always wear gear, its way cheaper than skin) or in a tank bag i put on my bikes (those things are super convenient, mine will hold all my stuff, hat, a couple of drinks, and pops off and turns into a backpack if i need it to, dunno how i got along without that thing).

I either open carry or carry under the pit where I can't open carry. I hate carrying under the pit, but it ensures the weapon stays concealed.

CCW on Motorcycle

I do. I sewed a lightweight holster into my vest to hold my FEG .380 Auto. Works nice and you don't really know its there.

i own a '97 fatboy, a '06 sporty 1200 custom, and the oddball is a 08 kawi ninja zx6r.

frankly its too hot and i'm too hot natured to wear hardcore gear year round in ms...i always wear boots, gloves and a helmet(half on harley, full on ninja), and jeans...i'm not at all fond of the fratboy look: flip flops, and khaki shorts...so at least i wear the most important gear.

Personally, I don't like carrying a big, metal object next to my body when I am on the bike. The contusion I received on the left side of my chest from my reading glasses after a crash took months to go away. I have my Kahr MK9 or PM9 in a tank bag. I can get to it faster than I can get to a gun under my jacket.

buell=amazing!!! i just traded off a '05 xb12r firebolt back in july towards a '09 nightster for my brother cuz i wasnt having any luck selling it and needed it gone...broke my heart last week when i heard harley was closing buell's doors

tank bag would be good on my ninja i guess...just worried bout the paint...kinda like my kawi green

i was leaning towards probably pocket or ankle carry on harley...maybe IWB(most likely SOB)...or in the cold weather a larger auto would be ok in a shoulder holster under my leathers

I used either a horizontal shoulder holster OR a leather vest with built-in pistol pockets like these. I have carried an SKS or two slung across my back while riding. Back home in Louisiana, the State Trooper did a double-take, laughed and smiled as I passed him. That day I had my pistol on my hip open-carry style.

I have some of the clear poly material on the top of my tank. It is the same polymer that is used on the front of car hoods to protect against stone chips. The magnetic bag sits on that clear material and, no scratches.

I do - usually it's just my KelTec P3at with the belt clip. I just put it in my front pocket or inside jacket pocket.

Always wanted a Winchester 1887 with an enlarged lever loop.. hanging out in a scabbard or something on the left side of the bike... and be able to fire it one handed... with my weak hand. Man that would be the cats pajamas

I was in Sturgis, SD last week installing a new phone system in the jail. The equipment room is downstairs in the Sheriffs office. They have quite a collection of sawed off shotguns on the wall in display cases. I'll have to upload the photos, they are on my netbook and I don't feel like getting them tonight.

You can always resort to the direct mount approach:

OK, sorry for being silly.

I don't ride anymore

But when I did, I would just stow the gun in a saddlebag, in a fanny pack, when I rode. I'm not a huge fan of fanny packs, but it's hard to surreptitiously transfer a handgun from saddlebag to any other type of holster while parked next to a city sidewalk.

I couldn't think of a body part I wanted to have land on a hard, angular piece of steel in the event of a bike mishap, so I never did carry on the body while riding.
